The short ceremony took place at Sakura Park, followed by the reception a short walk away at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.
The ceremony will take place at the gazebo in Sakura Park near Columbia University. Show up early for snacks and live music.
Though it will be a short ceremony, unfortunately, the park will not allow us to offer seating. Please wear comfortable shoes (it’s New York, you’ll be walking).
The dress code is semi-formal.
We recommend you take a taxi directly to the park (especially if you’re traveling as a group) or the 1 train to 125th Street (you’ll be above ground).
The ceremony will be held at Sakura Park slight-rain-or-shine. If it’s raining heavily, stay by your phone for information about a rain site.
We’ll follow our wedding ceremony with cocktails and a barbecue buffet just a short walk away at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Harlem.
Children of all ages are welcome at both the ceremony and reception.
We plan to wrap up the reception around midnight.
If you’re flying, search for flights arriving at LGA, JFK, or EWR. LGA is a short taxi ride to the Upper West Side of Manhattan, but it’s often easier to find flights to JFK and EWR.
If you’re on the eastern seaboard, we recommend booking Amtrak’s Northeast Regional service well in advance, but your preferred bus line should work just as well.
When staying in New York, we strongly recommend using Airbnb. In case you’re unfamiliar with the city, we’ve put together a search that only shows listings on the west side of Manhattan.
Hotels in New York are notoriously expensive, but if you prefer to stay in one, a few that are convenient to the ceremony & reception include Days Inn Hotel Upper West Side, Aloft Harlem, and the Belnord Hotel.
